Who to call today is a coverage problem.

If you give an outside sales rep 400 companies ‘near me,’ they will open the three they already like and ignore the rest. That is not laziness. It is a rational response to a list that does not know why anyone is on it.

A useful call list answers four questions, in order: Is the work real? Is the company the one who rents? Do we already run them? Do we have the iron? Miss one and you either waste a mile or skip the stop that would have paid for the day.

Coverage is the DSM’s word for the same thing. An assigned zone with no ranked calls is an empty map. An assigned zone with a dump of Google pins is worse — it trains the rep to distrust the system. EquipLead would rather show eighteen true rows than two hundred plausible ones. Volume is not the product.

Automation may suggest the next follow-up. It does not write it. The moment the system starts committing the day, the rep stops owning it — and the list dies.
